Our story · Chippendale, Sydney

It Started With a Rug.

Funny how something so small can completely change the direction of your life.

One idea, a few colours and a growing creative community.

01 · The discovery

I wasn’t trying to start a business. I was simply looking for a rug.

Three years ago, I wasn’t looking for a studio or dreaming about building a creative space in Sydney. I wanted something personal—something that felt like me and that I could customise without spending a fortune.

Somewhere in that search, I discovered tufting. I watched an idea, a few colours and some yarn slowly become something real. Something you could actually hold.

I fell in love with it—but what stayed with me wasn’t only the rug. It was the feeling of creating it.

“More people should get to experience this.”

02 · The first studio

A tiny space, a lot of ideas and the hope that others would love creating too.

At the time, there weren’t many places in Sydney where you could simply walk in and learn how to tuft. So I decided to create one.

I found a tiny studio in Chippendale. Nothing fancy. Just a small space, a lot of ideas and the hope that maybe other people would fall in love with creating the same way I had.

Slowly, people started walking through our doors.

03 · The community

The tiny studio became much bigger than I imagined.

Friends created together. Couples made rugs for each other. Pets, memories and inside jokes became art. Birthdays and first dates happened here.

People who told us, “I’m not creative at all,” walked out carrying something they couldn’t believe they had made themselves.

Three years later, we’ve doubled in size. We moved into a bigger studio and can welcome larger groups, celebrations and events. But despite everything that has changed, the reason we’re here hasn’t.

04 · The belief

Creativity belongs to everyone.

You don’t need to be an artist. You don’t need experience. You don’t even need to think you’re creative.

Sometimes, you just need a space where you’re allowed to try. A place to switch off from everything outside, make something imperfect, laugh, create and surprise yourself.

In a world where almost everything can arrive at our doorstep with one click, there is still something special about looking at an object and saying:

“I made that.”

That is the feeling I discovered while searching for one simple rug—and the feeling we’ve been trying to share ever since.
