Which tufting workshop is best for a complete beginner?
The 50×50 cm Classic is the easiest starting point for most beginners. It offers enough room for a custom design while keeping the session manageable at around 2–3 hours.
Do I need drawing, craft or tufting experience?
No. The public workshops begin with a short demonstration and are designed for first-time makers. Staff remain available while you work.
What kind of design should I choose?
Choose a clear image with bold shapes, strong outlines and a limited number of colours. Simple designs are easier to finish and usually create the cleanest first result.
When should I send my design?
Send your chosen design around 48 hours before the session so the studio can review it and help prepare the frame.
Are the materials and tufting gun included?
Yes. Core workshop materials, yarn, use of the frame, tufting gun and studio tools are included for your selected project size.
Can two people work on one rug?
Yes, selected larger projects can be shared. If you want to work as a pair, contact the studio before booking so the right format can be confirmed.
Can I take my rug home on the same day?
Yes, same-day finishing may be possible if you request it. Standard gluing and backing usually take around two days, after which the rug can be collected or posted for the applicable delivery fee.
What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
Please contact us at least 24 hours before your session. Changes made inside 24 hours may not be eligible for a refund or reschedule.
Can I bring my child?
Yes. The recommended minimum age is 10 years old, and younger makers should attend with an assisting adult.
Can you post my finished rug?
Yes. After gluing and backing, we can arrange postage for a flat $28 fee, or you can collect it from the Chippendale studio.
Where is Tuft & Craft?
The studio is at Shop 1, 49 Regent Street, Chippendale NSW 2008, within walking distance of Central Station.
